Garage floor coating cost in Oklahoma starts at $8.46 a square foot for a flake floor. Most two-car garages in OKC and Tulsa are 400 to 500 square feet. At 450 square feet, that’s $4,000 to $4,900 before the drive cost, which is our trip to your site. Crack repair and a moisture barrier cost extra, but only when your slab needs them.
What does a two-car garage cost in OKC?
The table has our flake floor price for each garage size. Each price is set at the middle of the size range, before the drive cost. The low end is the base floor. The high end adds a moisture barrier primer. These job prices also count our setup time, so they come out a little above the per-foot start price.
| Garage Size | Approximate SF | Installed Cost Range |
|---|---|---|
| 1-car garage | 200 to 250 SF | $2,100 to $2,550 at 225 SF |
| 2-car garage | 400 to 500 SF | $4,000 to $4,900 at 450 SF |
| 3-car garage | 600 to 750 SF | $5,900 to $7,200 at 675 SF |
| 4-car / oversized | 800 to 1,000 SF | $7,800 to $9,500 at 900 SF |
What affects garage floor coating cost?
Five things move the number. We’ve put them in order of how much they matter. Most bids list them in a different order.
Surface condition and prep. This is most of the job. We grind the slab with a diamond grinder until it’s rough enough for the coating to grip. On a bid you’ll see that called ICRI CSP 3 profile (concrete surface profile 3), about like 80-grit sandpaper per ASTM D4259. The profile number alone doesn’t prove the floor is ready. So we drop water on the ground surface too. It should darken the concrete and soak in within 60 seconds. If it beads up, the pores are still closed and the resin has nothing to grab. When the slab’s history raises a flag, we run a moisture test per ASTM F1869 before we pick the resin. Flags are things like an old coating, a low garage, or a slab nobody knows the age of. A moisture barrier primer adds $1.80 a square foot. Cleaning out oil or stripping off an old coating is priced per job, after we see what’s on the floor.
Square footage. Setup, grinder time, and the trip don’t shrink when the garage does. A one-car bay carries the same fixed hours as a three-car. Small floors also have more edge for their size. We cut in the edges by hand along walls and door tracks, and that runs several times slower than rolling the open floor.
System complexity. Flake, metallic, and quartz are three different builds, not three colors. We sell them as RESA Flake, RESA Metallic, and RESA Quartz. RESA is our own line of resin floor coatings.
| System Type | Cost per SF | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Flake (chip) broadcast with polyaspartic topcoat | From $8.46 | Most residential garages, hides dirt and tire marks |
| Metallic with polyaspartic topcoat | From $5.96 | Showroom-quality appearance, unique depth and movement |
| Quartz broadcast with polyaspartic topcoat | From $8.17 | Commercial kitchens, locker rooms, wet areas |
Product tier. A pro build stacks primer, base coat, flake, and topcoat to 20 mils or more. A store kit goes on at 3 to 5 mils, about as thick as a coat of paint. Cheap resin that thin turns yellow in Oklahoma sun and lets go under hot tires. The label may say “epoxy” on both. They are not the same product.
Hot tire pickup is the failure that catches people. A tire comes off the highway hot and sits on a thin coating for an hour. The heat softens the resin. When you back out the next morning, the tire pulls up a patch. Thickness and the topcoat are what stop that, and they’re the two things a cheap bid trims first.
The drive. We work out of Prague, OK, about 60 miles east of Oklahoma City. The drive cost is a line on your quote, and the quote tool figures it from your address. Tulsa-area jobs run a little higher than OKC. It’s charged per trip, not per day, so a bigger floor spreads it thinner.
The sub-$5 garage floor quote: what it actually means
On a home garage in Oklahoma, a quote under $5 a foot almost always means the prep got cut. No diamond grinding. No moisture check, and no ASTM F1869 test when the slab calls for one. An acid etch instead of a ground surface. The coating sticks to the weakest layer of the slab, and it starts to peel in 2 to 5 years as Oklahoma freeze-thaw and red clay move the ground. You end up paying to coat the floor twice. For a check on that, we looked at 64 home garage quotes in our old Oklahoma records. The middle one was $10.83 a foot, and most landed between $7 and $14. Big commercial jobs of 5,000 square feet or more can drop to $3 to $5 a foot, but those are a different kind of job.
How popular is each garage coating system in Oklahoma?
We went back through 245 quote records for our garage coating buyer study. Epoxy and other resin coatings, polyaspartic topcoats included, make up about 33% of concrete floor quote requests. Polished concrete leads at 38%. That surprises people who figure a garage question always ends in a coating.
Our epoxy floor cost study puts the middle epoxy price in the state at $8.82[1] a square foot, across 82 quote records. It’s worth knowing before you decide a number is high or low.
Those are our own quotes, not an industry survey. It’s a small window on one state. But every one of those numbers had a real address behind it, which is more than most published price lists can say.
How does Oklahoma pricing compare to other markets?
| Market | Typical Residential Range (per SF) |
|---|---|
| Oklahoma | From $8.46 |
| Texas (metro) | $4 to $8 |
| California | $6 to $12 |
| Northeast | $5 to $10 |
| National average | $4 to $8 |
Resin costs about the same everywhere, because it ships at national prices. Labor is what changes from place to place. A per-foot average also doesn’t tell you what’s under it. Two bids at the same price can put very different amounts of resin on your floor, and the gallons section below shows how to check.
What is included, and what is not?
Every quote includes diamond grinding, the water check on the ground surface, edge grinding along the walls, the full coating system through the topcoat, and cleanup.
We price these separately, and only when your slab needs them: crack and joint repair, a moisture barrier primer, oil cleanup, removing an old coating, and structural repair past the surface.
Those sit outside the base price because they depend on the slab, not on what you picked. A shop bay that’s soaked up oil for twenty years needs cleaning before anything will stick. A slab poured last spring doesn’t. Putting them in every quote would charge every homeowner for the worst floor we’ve ever walked into.
We plan around shelving and stored gear when we book the install date. It’s part of the schedule, not a line on the bill.
How do you get an accurate garage floor coating quote?
Put in your square footage and your address. In about 2 minutes, the tool gives you an itemized price with the drive cost already in it. Nobody calls you unless you ask. If you’d rather have someone look at the slab first, we’ll come out for free.

Why do quotes vary so much?
Four things decide whether a coating lasts. A cheap bid has almost always dropped one of them.
- Surface prep. A ground surface, or an acid etch and a prayer.
- Product choice. How much of the resin is solid, what the resin is, and what topcoat goes on.
- Weather on install day. Slab temperature and dew point when we roll it, and the right wait time between coats.
- How it goes on. The same thickness across the whole floor, not just the part you see from the driveway.
A garage floor only gets coated once if the prep gets done right the first time. That’s the whole cost argument.
Count the gallons
Almost nobody checks this. Two bids can both say “flake system with a clear topcoat” and put very different amounts of material on your slab.
| Layer | Bel Covo standard flake build | Typical one-day build |
|---|---|---|
| Primer | Moisture vapor barrier primer at 75 to 110 SF per gallon | No primer at all |
| Color coat | Pigmented broadcast coat at 100 to 120 SF per gallon | Polyaspartic broadcast coat at 150 to 200 SF per gallon |
| Encapsulation | Encapsulation coat at 100 to 120 SF per gallon | Clear at roughly 60 percent solids, rolled at 250 to 300 SF per gallon |
| Topcoat | Aliphatic urethane at 350 to 450 SF per gallon | No separate topcoat; the clear above is the wear layer |
| Flake | Broadcast to rejection | About one third as much flake |
| Resin on a 1,000 SF floor | About 30 gallons | About 10 gallons |
Coverage rate is the tell, and it reads backwards from what most people expect. More square feet per gallon sounds efficient. It really means a thinner coat. On a 1,000 SF garage, our standard build puts down about 30 gallons of resin across four coats. The one-day build puts down about 10 across two.
Say our price is $8.46 a foot and the other bid is fifty cents less. We’re putting three times the material on the floor, and it’s going to show.
On a 500 SF two-car garage, a fifty-cent gap between two bids is $250. Three times the resin for $250 is not a close call.
Three questions will sort any two bids in about ninety seconds:
- How many gallons of resin end up on my floor, total?
- What’s the spread rate for each coat, in square feet per gallon?
- Is there a primer under the color coat, and what is it?
A crew that knows its build answers all three without looking anything up.
Does a coating pay for itself?
| Surface | Installed Cost (2-car garage) | Lifespan | Annual Maintenance Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Professional coating | $4,000 to $4,900 | 15 to 20 years | $0 to $25 (occasional mop) |
| DIY big-box epoxy kit | $200 to $400 | 2 to 5 years | $0 until it peels, then full redo |
| Interlocking garage tiles | $2,000 to $4,000 | 10 to 15 years | $50 to $100 (cleaning under tiles) |
| Bare concrete (sealed) | $700 to $1,700 | 3 to 5 years between re-seals | $100 to $200 (stain removal, re-seal) |
| Garage floor paint | $100 to $300 | 1 to 3 years | Full repaint every cycle |
Not on price alone. A pro floor costs more up front than a store kit, and more than a few kits bought over the years. What you pay for is a floor you do once. It lasts 15 to 20 years instead of 2 to 5. You don’t lose a weekend to scraping and rolling every time a kit peels, and it’s thick enough to stand up to hot tires.
A store kit for a two-car garage runs $200 to $400, and it dries to 3 to 5 mils. A pro system on that same garage is four coats and about 15 gallons of resin, built to 20 mils or more. They’re priced differently because they are different things.
Interlocking tiles are the middle case. They go down in an afternoon and last 10 to 15 years. They also trap whatever runs under them. That’s why the upkeep column says “cleaning under tiles” and not “mopping.”
The money isn’t the only payback, either. A coated slab stops the chalky dust bare concrete gives off. Oil and chemicals wipe off instead of soaking in, and the floor cleans with a mop and water. Anyone who uses a garage as a shop knows what that dust does to tools and to everything stored low. Our 10-year cost-of-ownership study runs the same math against a polished slab, if you’re choosing between finishes.
