These are complete, free CSI 3-part guide specifications for the concrete floors Bel Covo builds, from the slab through the finish. Each one is written to drop into a project manual: numbered articles, bracketed editing points, and the quality-control mechanics spelled out in Part 3. Use them as written, or edit the brackets to fit the project. Each page has a print-formatted PDF of the same section.

Section 09 67 23 appears three times below, once per resin system. That is deliberate. A flake floor is a single broadcast, a quartz floor is a double cast, and a metallic floor is not a broadcast system at all: the pigment disperses into the resin and goes down fluid with it. One combined resinous section has to blur those differences to fit a single materials list, and the blurring shows up on the job. Each system gets its own section instead.

Division 03 or Division 09: where your floor specifies

The routing rule is simple: a finish worked into the concrete specifies in Division 03, and a finish applied over the concrete specifies in Division 09. Mechanical polishing grinds and densifies the slab itself, so it belongs to Section 03 35 43, Polished Concrete Finishing. Epoxy, polyaspartic, and hybrid broadcast systems build a new wear surface on top of the slab, so they belong to Section 09 67 23, Resinous Flooring, under Fluid-Applied Flooring.

The polish and resin sections also depend on different upstream work. A polished floor leans hard on the pour: cement content, flatness, and curing method set the ceiling on what the polish can achieve, which is why our Pour-4-Polish approach writes the finish requirements into the pour spec. A resinous floor leans on preparation and moisture: surface profile and vapor testing decide whether the system bonds for a decade or delaminates in a season.

How to edit a guide specification

Every bracketed value is a project decision: gloss level and aggregate exposure for polish, system tier and moisture limits for resinous, mockup sizes and warranty terms for both. Edit those freely. The article structure is the process itself, so keep the sequence and the Part 3 quality-control articles intact. If a value outside a bracket needs to change for your project, that is usually a conversation worth having before bid day: send it to us and we will tell you what the change does to the floor.

Specifying Bel Covo on a project

Every section names a basis of design so substitution review has a concrete anchor: the Slab Boss methodology for polished work and the RESA system family for resinous work. None of them names an outside manufacturer as the basis of design, because the requirements that decide whether a floor lasts are process requirements, not brand requirements: surface absorption, moisture testing, spread rate, and encapsulation. The installer submits the resins proposed for each coat and they get reviewed against those requirements. Any qualified contractor can bid the sections as written. If you want the pour and the finish under one subcontract with one warranty chain, our general contractor page covers scopes, submittals, and scheduling, and theonline quote calculator prices a floor in about two minutes.

Frequently asked questions

What is the CSI code for epoxy flooring and polished concrete?

The CSI code for epoxy flooring is 09 67 23, Resinous Flooring. The CSI code for polished concrete is 03 35 43, Polished Concrete Finishing. The split follows whether the finish is worked into the concrete or applied on top of it: mechanical polishing is worked concrete, so it specifies in Division 03, while epoxy, polyaspartic, and other fluid-applied broadcast systems are applied finishes, so they specify in Division 09. The slab itself specifies under Section 03 30 00, Cast-in-Place Concrete, and resurfacing of an existing slab under Section 03 01 30.

Are these specifications free to use?

Yes. Copy either section into your project manual as written, or download the PDF and red-line it. The bracketed values (gloss level, exposure class, moisture limits, warranty terms) are the intended editing points. No registration, no license.

What comes with a submittal package from Bel Covo?

Product data sheets for every coat or chemical in the scheduled system, the tooling or application schedule prepared from the site assessment, mockup documentation, and the field quality-control log format. We build the package to match the submittal articles in these guide specs, so review is a checklist pass rather than a correspondence thread.
