What does a garage floor coating cost in Oklahoma?
The garage floor coating cost in Oklahoma for our flake floor, which is what most garages here get, is $8.55 to $10.39 a square foot. A two-car garage is 400 to 500 square feet. At 450 square feet, in OKC or anywhere else in the state, you’re looking at $4,000 to $4,900 before the drive cost, meaning our trip from Prague to your house. Every price here assumes the slab gets ground and prepped right the first time.
| Garage Size | Approximate sf | Installed Cost Range |
|---|---|---|
| 1-car garage | 200 to 250 sf | $2,100 to $2,550 (priced at 225 sf) |
| 2-car garage | 400 to 500 sf | $4,000 to $4,900 (priced at 450 sf) |
| 3-car garage | 600 to 750 sf | $5,900 to $7,200 (priced at 675 sf) |
| 4-car / shop bay | 800 to 1,200 sf | $8,650 to $10,500 (priced at 1,000 sf) |
Each total is our flake floor at the middle of its size range. The low end is a clean, dry slab. The high end adds a moisture barrier primer for a damp one. Small garages cost more per foot, because setup and edge work spread over fewer feet, so the 1-car row can sit above the per-foot range. The drive cost, structural repair, and old coating removal all sit outside these totals. For how the work gets done and how to choose a system, see the Oklahoma garage floor coatings page. This page is about price.
Does your part of Oklahoma change the price?
Not the rate per foot. A flake floor costs the same per foot in Yukon as it does in Jenks. What changes is the drive from our Prague shop, which sits about 45 miles east of OKC and 60 miles southwest of Tulsa, plus the kind of slab and job we tend to find in each area.
| Sub-Region | Cities | What we see most |
|---|---|---|
| OKC metro / Oklahoma County | Oklahoma City, Edmond, Norman, Moore, Yukon, Mustang | Home garages |
| Tulsa metro / Tulsa County | Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Bixby, Owasso, Jenks | Home garages |
| Rural towns and acreage near Prague | Shawnee, Stroud, Chandler, Sapulpa, Bristow, Cushing | Barndo and shop bays |
| Lawton / southwest industrial | Lawton, Cache, Elgin, Duncan | Industrial and shop floors |
Three things shape an Oklahoma garage quote from one area to the next. The first is the kind of job. OKC and Tulsa bring mostly home garages, plus shop and hangar floors around Tinker. The rural towns bring shop bays on acreage, and Lawton leans toward industrial work. The second is the slab. Newer slabs usually went down over a plastic sheet that holds back ground water, and older slabs in the metros and in Lawton often did not. The third is the drive, and it weighs the most on a job under 500 square feet. Our Prague shop sits between the metros: Shawnee is 22 miles away, OKC is 45, and Tulsa is 62. Weather sets the rest. A slab here can drop into the teens in January and pass 130 degrees behind a closed door in August. A floor built for that swing lasts, and a cheap one built without it doesn’t.
What drives your final price?
Five things set the number. Know them and you can read any garage quote line by line.
1. Slab condition. This moves the price the most, and no sales pitch changes it. A clean post-2010 slab in Edmond, Owasso, or Yukon needs only our standard diamond grinding. That’s already in the price. A 1980s slab in Bethany, Del City, or central Tulsa is a different story. It may have oil soaked in or an old coating that failed. It may also read above 3 pounds per 1,000 square feet per 24 hours on the ASTM F1869 calcium chloride test, which weighs the moisture coming up through the slab. A moisture barrier primer for that slab adds $1.80 a square foot. Oil cleanup and old coating removal are priced per job, after we’ve seen the floor.
2. Square footage. Bigger floors cost less per foot, because setup and the drive spread over more floor. Barndominium shop bays at 1,500 to 4,000 square feet usually land at the low end of our per-foot range. A small garage has more wall edge for its size, and every edge gets its own grinding pass.
3. The system you pick. Flake, metallic, quartz, and solid color each carry their own price. Full polyaspartic costs more than a hybrid floor, and it cures the fastest.
4. Product grade. We install a polyurea and polyaspartic system. It builds to 20 mils or more, and a mil is a thousandth of an inch. Big-box kits go on at 3 to 5 mils. They turn yellow in Oklahoma summer sun within 18 months.
5. The drive. It gets its own line on the quote and never hides in the price per foot. OKC and Tulsa sit inside our standard home-garage radius. Lawton, Enid, and the southwest corner carry a longer travel line.
The sub-$5 garage floor quote in Oklahoma
Any bid below $5 a square foot on an Oklahoma home garage usually tells you the prep was skipped. Nobody grinds the slab. Nobody runs an ASTM F1869 moisture test when the slab calls for one. An acid wash stands in for a real ground surface, so the coating grabs the weakest layer of concrete. Then Oklahoma heat swings and vapor pushing up out of the red clay go to work. The floor starts to blister within 12 to 24 months, and you pay to coat it twice. Our older Oklahoma records back this up. Across 64 home garage quotes, the middle price was $10.83 a foot, and most fell between $7 and $14. A big commercial floor over 5,000 square feet is a different kind of job, and its price per foot drops with size.
Which coating system tier should you pick?
| System Tier | Build Thickness | OK Cost per sf | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solid-color polyaspartic | 12 to 15 mil | Priced per job | Utility, fleet, interior shop |
| Flake epoxy + polyaspartic | 18 to 22 mil | $8.55 to $10.39 | Residential garages, barndo bays |
| Metallic or quartz + polyaspartic | 20 to 25 mil | $6.08 to $10.17 | Showrooms, hobby garages, fleet bays |
| Full polyaspartic (base + top) | 18 to 22 mil | Priced per job | Same-day reopen, summer installs |
RESA is our own line of resinous floor coatings. Each one is a decorative layer broadcast across the whole floor and sealed in resin. RESA Flake uses color flake, RESA Quartz uses quartz grit, and RESA Metallic uses a metallic pigment for a reflective finish with depth. Metallic prices below flake on our list, so the showroom look doesn’t cost more here. Flake is the one most Oklahoma homes get. We broadcast color flake until the base coat can’t hold any more, then lock it down under a polyaspartic topcoat. It makes up about 60 percent of our OKC and Tulsa home bids. It also covers most of the barndominium shop-half work in Lincoln, Pottawatomie, and Caddo counties. We price solid-color and full polyaspartic floors per job, once we’ve seen the slab and know how soon you need the garage back.
A quick way to choose:
- You park in it every day and want it to hide dust and tire marks: flake.
- You want a glossy showroom look: metallic or quartz.
- It’s a shop or utility room that only needs a sealed floor you can sweep clean: solid color.
- You need the garage back fast, or it’s an August install: full polyaspartic.
Polyaspartic for fast turnaround and summer installs
A full polyaspartic system costs more than a hybrid. But you can walk on it in 4 to 6 hours and park on it in 24. That makes it the right call for an Oklahoma summer install, when heat and humidity stall an epoxy cure. It also fits fleet bays, and the shop and hangar floors around Tinker that can't sit empty for 2 to 3 days. In winter it still goes down along the I-44 corridor. Epoxy stalls there below 50 degrees F.
How does Oklahoma compare to national averages?
| Market | Range per sf |
|---|---|
| Our flake floor in Oklahoma | $8.55 to $10.39 |
| Texas (metro) | $4 to $8 |
| California | $6 to $12 |
| National average | $4 to $8 |
Our price runs above the national average for three reasons. Older OKC and Tulsa slabs often need moisture work. The temperature here swings 100 degrees a year. And our mix includes fleet and hangar floors. If an Oklahoma garage bid comes in at the national average, most likely nobody checked the slab. It rarely means the crew found a discount. The national garage floor coating cost guide breaks the numbers down market by market.
How far is the Prague shop from your address, and what does that add?
| Project City | One-Way | Travel Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Shawnee, Chandler, Stroud | 13 to 25 miles | Standard same-day in and out |
| Oklahoma City, Edmond, Norman | 40 to 55 miles | Standard residential radius |
| Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Owasso | 55 to 70 miles | Standard residential radius |
| Sapulpa, Bristow, Cushing | 25 to 50 miles | I-44 corridor; standard radius |
| Lawton, Cache, Elgin | 130 to 145 miles | Itemized travel line |
| Enid, Vance AFB | 110 to 125 miles | Itemized travel line |
The travel line is the one part of the quote that follows your address and not your garage. Put your address into the online quote tool and it works that line out for you.
The base price and the extras
In the base price:
- Diamond grinding to ICRI CSP 3, a surface profile about as rough as the coating needs to grip
- An on-site look at the slab for cracks, oil, and damp spots
- Primer, base coat, the flake, quartz, or metallic layer, and a polyaspartic topcoat
- Grit mixed into the topcoat so it isn’t slick, plus cleanup
On its own line, only when your slab needs it:
- Crack repair with epoxy mortar at $2.55 a foot of crack, and joint fill at $1.11 a foot of joint
- A moisture test per ASTM F1869 plus a humidity probe per ASTM F2170, when the slab raises a flag or you want one anyway
- A moisture barrier primer for a slab above 3 pounds on that test, at $1.80 a square foot
- Old coating removal and oil cleanup, priced per job
- Structural concrete repair beyond normal tolerances
The drive from Prague is its own line too. We don’t move cars, shelves, or equipment, so when we book the install date we’ll ask if the garage will be clear. Splitting the quote this way keeps the base price honest, and it shows you exactly what your slab is adding.
How does coating compare to other Oklahoma floor options?
| Surface | Installed (2-car) | Lifespan |
|---|---|---|
| Our flake coating | $4,000 to $4,900 at 450 sf | 12 to 15 years |
| DIY big-box epoxy kit | $200 to $400 | 1 to 3 years |
| Interlocking garage tiles | $2,000 to $4,000 | 8 to 12 years |
| Our polished concrete | $2,100 to $3,400 at 450 sf | 20-plus years |
| Bare concrete (sealed) | $700 to $1,700 | 2 to 4 years |
Our prices in this table are before the drive cost. A $300 kit that fails every 2 years costs $1,800 over 12 years, plus your labor and an Oklahoma summer blistering problem to sort out. Our coating costs more on day one, but you pay for it once across those same 12 years. Cheap floors get expensive; they just wait a couple of years to send the bill. For shop floors, fleet bays, and the living half of a barndominium, look at Oklahoma polished concrete. If the slab isn’t poured yet, Pour-4-Polish cuts coating prep cost by treating the pour and the finish as one plan.
How do you get a quote?
The quickest way is the online quote tool. Put in your garage size, your address, the shape the slab is in, and the system you want. It gives you an installed price for your Oklahoma garage. The drive shows on its own line, not folded into a fuzzy price per foot. Some slabs need more than a form: moisture above 3 pounds per 1,000 square feet, structural damage, a failed coating, or hail chips along the door edge. For those, the tool sets up a free visit. A slab like that deserves a look before it gets a number.
